"I have been thrilled with the quality of Black Swamp instruments in all aspects of my musical career, both as an educator and as part of a touring duo. Their snare drums and accessory instruments have always provided outstanding performance for myself and my students, and their innovative multi-legs have proven to be an invaluable resource while on the road."

Dr. Vivienne Shippy is a Sacramento-based performer and educator who currently serves as the Adjunct Assistant Professor of Percussion at Cosumnes River College and President of the California Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.

Vivienne has performed and shared her research in a variety of settings including the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy, the Midwest Conference, and as a featured artist at the Festival of New American Music. Her most recent research focuses on the in-depth teaching of collegiate percussion methods courses.

Vivienne is also a founding member of Metaphor Percussion, a nationally touring percussion duo that focuses on both commissioning new music from under-represented composers and multi-media.

Vivienne received her DMA in Percussion Performance from the University of Oklahoma with Dr. Andrew Richardson, an M.M. and Graduate Certificate from the University of Central Arkansas with Dr. Blake Tyson, and a B.M. in Performance from the University of West Florida with Professor Laura Noah.
