Based in Albuquerque, Scott Ney is a versatile percussionist specializing in contemporary solo and chamber music who has served as Professor of Music and Director of Percussion at the University of New Mexico since 1998. An active performer throughout the region, he plays with the New Mexico Philharmonic, Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, and Santa Fe Symphony, and serves as timpanist for the Opera Southwest Orchestra. A key contributor to the Santa Fe Opera's Grammy Award-winning recording of The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, Ney has also been a featured artist at international festivals and venues in Poland and Germany, as well as multiple Percussive Arts Society International Conventions. Professor Ney attended The Boston Conservatory, Eastern Illinois University, and the University of Washington and is a performing artist for Pearl/Adams, Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth, and Remo.
