Romain Maisonnasse began music studies at age five in his village music school in Alsace. After years of studying drums, he shifted to classical percussion and trained at the Strasbourg Conservatory with Emmanuel Séjourné, earning his Diplôme d’Études Musicales. He further refined his skills with Francis Brana at the Créteil Conservatory. In 2006, he joined Michel Cerutti’s percussion class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, obtaining his Diplôme de Formation Supérieure. Passionate about orchestral music, Romain played with the French Youth Orchestra, the French Baroque Youth Orchestra, and the Toulouse National Opera Orchestra Academy. In 2008, he became the second principal percussionist of the Marseille Opera Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he held until 2017 when he joined the Saint-Maur-des-Fossés Conservatory. He is also a member of the Paris Percussion Group and the Orchestre des Gardiens de la Paix, performing widely across France and Europe.
