Paul Chambers is a percussionist and educator from Kingston, New York, holding a Master’s in percussion performance and a Bachelor’s in music education from SUNY Fredonia, plus an Associate’s from SUNY Ulster. He teaches percussion, world music, and theory at SUNY Ulster and SUNY New Paltz and directs the front ensemble for the NY State champion Arlington High School Marching Band and Winter Percussion Ensemble. An active performer in the Hudson Valley, Paul holds principal roles with the Woodstock Symphony Orchestra and Woodstock Playhouse. Highlights include membership in the 2021 International Marimba Orchestra at PASIC and the inaugural 2016 World Percussion Group. A specialist in traditional African music, he studied in Ghana multiple times and received a 2016 Fulbright grant to research South African music, published in African Music. He’s also certified in personal training, offering fitness clinics tailored for percussionists, including one at PASIC 2023.
