With a performance career spanning from the Sphinx Orchestra and the National Symphony of Costa Rica to tours with pop artists and acclaimed jazz groups, Dr. Olman E. Piedra brings a world of experience to his role as Professor of percussion and drum set at The University of Toledo. His extensive and versatile discography includes the Grammy Award-winning William Bolcom album "Songs Of Innocence And Of Experience" conducted by Leonard Slatkin, along with numerous recordings in jazz, Latin, and contemporary music. Dr. Piedra has performed alongside Grammy-winning artists The New York Voices and maintains an active international career. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Bowling Green State University, two Master's degrees from the University of Michigan in both Performance and Improvisation, and is an educational artist for Meinl, Remo, Innovative Percussion, and Black Swamp Percussion.
