Driven by the question, "what exactly is percussion?", Nia Devetzis is a dynamic teaching artist and percussionist dedicated to exploring the vast world of contemporary music. As a soloist, she has been featured with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and as a chamber musician, she is a core member of Calgary's Timepoint Ensemble and has collaborated with acclaimed groups such as So Percussion and TorQ. Her creative work expands across disciplines, including collaborations in devised theatre where she performs as a musician/actor and builds custom instruments and musical puppets. An active educator in Calgary, she is an instructor at the Mount Royal Conservatory and serves on the creative faculty at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Nia holds a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of Calgary.
