Michael Gould is a Professor of Music at the University of Michigan, recognized internationally for his work in drumset, contemporary percussion performance, and pedagogy. He teaches in the Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation Department and directs the Center for World Performance Studies. Gould holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Kentucky and degrees from UNLV and the University of Illinois. He has released over 100 educational percussion videos, composed for diverse ensembles including the Münich Opera and Ballet, and collaborated across arts and sciences. His book, The Drum Diaries, is available on the Apple iTunes store. Gould is music director for Tangente Dance Company in Berlin and serves on the Percussive Arts Society Board of Advisors. His recent works include Remember Me and an art installation on climate change with Nobel laureate Henry Pollack.
