Based in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Julie Licata is a versatile percussionist, collaborator, and educator serving as the Assistant Professor and Director of Percussion at Capital University. A dedicated performer of new and experimental music, she focuses on improvisation and the integration of electronics, highlighted by her recent album resound/unsound and performances at the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the US (SEAMUS). Dr. Licata also performs internationally with flautist Ana Laura González as the Windstruck Duo, who released their debut album, Reciprocity, in 2023. As an educator, she cultivates each musician's creative voice through a holistic approach that integrates improvisation, self-assessment, and personal well-being. A leader in the percussion community, she has served as Interim President of the PAS New York Chapter and on the PAS University Pedagogy Committee and Diversity Alliance. Dr. Licata holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas.
