Joel Alberto Garza is a versatile percussionist and composer whose work spans orchestral, chamber, theater, and spoken word. He has performed at major events like PASIC, SICPP, TMEA, and OMEA. Recently, he completed a residency at the University of South Florida, recording and performing contemporary works, and has premiered pieces at PASIC and the ACSA Architecture Conference. A former member of DCI and WGI ensembles, Joel co-founded Cincinnati New Music and the Latin group CinciSon. He is Assistant Professor of Percussion at Western Oregon University, directing multiple ensembles. Joel holds a Master’s and Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor’s from Sam Houston State. He’s premiered works by several composers and collaborated with artists like Sylvain Archer and Betsy Wolfe. Joel endorses Black Swamp Percussion and Rustic Percussion.
