Honored as the 2019 Teacher of the Year for the Caine College of the Arts, Dr. Jason Nicholson is a multifaceted percussionist and educator who has served as Associate Professor of Percussion at Utah State University since 2009. An in-demand performer across many genres, he has appeared at internationally renowned events such as the Montreux, Umbria, and Viennes Jazz Festivals. His performance highlights also include a featured appearance at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) alongside marimba virtuoso Keiko Abe and the University of North Texas Wind Symphony, with whom he has several recording credits. Dr. Nicholson holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas and is a performing and educational artist for D’Addario, Zildjian, and Tama/Bergerault.
