Based in the Bay Area for over four decades, Galen Lemmon is the Director of Percussion Studies at San José State University, his alma mater. After winning a position with the San José Symphony at age 19, he quickly rose to become its principal percussionist and now holds the same title with Symphony Silicon Valley and the renowned Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, where he has worked with celebrated artists like Marin Alsop and Evelyn Glennie and composers such as Philip Glass and John Adams. An active soloist and recording artist, Mr. Lemmon has performed numerous concertos and can be heard on major video game soundtracks, including "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" and "Gran Turismo," recorded at Skywalker Ranch. In addition to performing with every professional orchestra in the Bay Area, he has dedicated the last decade to building the U Music Percussion program, mentoring young musicians from elementary through high school.
