Dr. Emily Salgado (b. 1994) is a multifaceted percussionist serving as the Assistant Professor of Percussion at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she directs the percussion ensemble and Nebraska Steel. As an active soloist, chamber musician, and clinician, she has performed with diverse groups like the National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. Her current project, "Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History," champions works by female composers dedicated to pioneering female percussionists. In addition to co-founding the Twin Lakes Duo, Dr. Salgado has an extensive background in drum and bugle corps, having served as head drum major for Carolina Crown in 2016 and continuing her involvement as a brass staff member and leadership camp instructor. She is a proud endorser of Malletech Inc. and Black Swamp Percussion and serves on committees for the Percussive Arts Society.
