An active musician, educator, and performer, Dr. David Mitchell is the Assistant Professor of Music and music coordinator at King University. A versatile artist, he was featured as the vibraphone soloist on John Williams' Escapades with the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra in 2024 and was formerly the principal percussionist for several regional orchestras, including the Lakeland and Johnson City Symphony Orchestras. Dr. Mitchell is a passionate advocate for new music, having commissioned works from composers like David Skidmore and Ivan Trevino, and is the founder of the ETenn Percussion Group. His extensive recording credits include hundreds of new works for Excelcia Music Publishing and albums with the UNCG Wind Ensemble. Dr. Mitchell holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he also earned a Master of Music in music theory, and a Bachelor of Music from East Tennessee State University.
