Based at Bowling Green State University, Dr. Dan Piccolo is a dynamic percussionist and educator who serves as an Associate Professor in the College of Musical Arts. A versatile artist active as a chamber musician, soloist, and jazz drummer, his performance career includes collaborations with artists like John Scofield and Third Coast Percussion, tours with the band Nomo, and soloist appearances with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. A dedicated proponent of new and historical works, he recently published a lost collection of solos by Charley Wilcoxon, released his debut solo album "Monobot," and premiered Evan Ziporyn’s concerto Impulse Control. Dr. Piccolo holds a DMA from the University of Michigan and has studied global music traditions extensively in India and Ghana. He is deeply engaged with the Percussive Arts Society, currently serving as an Associate Editor for Percussive Notes and as Secretary for the Ohio Chapter.
