Dan Hartung is a versatile and experienced music educator, currently serving as the Assistant Professor of Music and Percussion Coordinator at Elon University after directing percussion at the Tarpon Springs Leadership Conservatory for the Arts. His educational proficiency is grounded in a Bachelor of Music Education and furthered by advanced degrees (M.M. and D.M.A.), providing a strong pedagogical framework for his teaching. Hartung's expertise extends to specialized areas, including his deep study and performance of Afro-Diasporic percussion genres in Cuba, which he brings to his students. This is complemented by practical experience directing ensembles like the Austin Percussion Collective and performing with groups such as the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, demonstrating a comprehensive ability to instruct in both concert and marching percussion settings.
