Currently based in Chicago, Dr. Brooks Truly is a versatile percussionist and dedicated educator who serves as a full-time instructor and administrator at ChiArts and on the percussion faculty at Roosevelt University. He performs regularly with the world fusion group Callaloo and the Chicago Summer Opera and is an active freelance percussionist and timpanist. Dr. Truly's extensive career includes hundreds of performances across orchestral, chamber, world music, and theatrical settings, and he has shared the stage with a remarkable array of artists ranging from Yo-Yo Ma and Placido Domingo to Tony Bennett and Evanescence. A featured presenter at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, he holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. Dr. Truly is an endorsed performing artist for Remo, Sabian, and Vic Firth, and is a member of the Black Swamp Percussion Educators Network.
