Dr. Brant Blackard is a dynamic performer, educator, and composer with international experience performing with chamber groups like Alla Balena Ensemble and the Zohn Collective. As co-founder of the Frozen Earth Duo, he has toured extensively, including appearances at Ontario PAS Day of Percussion and the Leigh Howard Stevens Marimba Seminar. His percussion compositions have been featured at PASIC and premiered at Radford University and Jacksonville State University, with works published by MPI, Blue Aster, and Wildight Publications. Holding DMA and MM degrees from Eastman School of Music—where he earned the Performer’s Certificate and Milton Schlesinger Prize—and a bachelor’s from the University of Central Arkansas, Brant is currently Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, with previous faculty roles at Jacksonville State, Talladega College, and Virginia Tech.
