Adam Lastiwka is a Los Angeles based Composer and Multi-instrumentalist with more than twenty years of professional experience on plethora of internationally renowned projects. His unique production approach and diverse sense of musicality has made him one of the most sought-after modern composers for Film, Television and Video Games.
He was brought on board as a vendor for Microsoft’s Xbox gaming division to compose for their first Series-X console release “Gears 5 HiveBusters” which released on the Gamepass service to major critical acclaim and was also invited back to do the highly anticipated prequel “Gears of War E-Day”. The Game and Adam’s involvement were revealed at the 2024 Xbox Showcase event as the main feature to an ecstatic and wholly positive audience. The trailer itself has amassed more than 5 million views over a range of platforms and continues to grow in popularity, solidifying Adam as an asset to long standing game series that has sold over 30 million copies. He was also a featured speaker on a panel at the San Diego Comicon in 2019, and recently had his compositions used for the National Memorial event for Senator Murray Sinclair.
His work has also been showcased in many advertising campaigns and trailers such as the Christian Bale film “Hostiles”, “The Nice guys” (Ryan Gosling, Russel Crow) and the Ridley Scott film “Body of Lies” which featured music he produced while only seventeen years old, as well as the video game “Batman Arkham City” and “Dishonoured” which have garnered tens of millions of views.
Adam’s music is instantly recognizable due to the depth of his technical ability to perform, record and produce on nearly every instrument. He has amassed one of the largest private musical instrument collections in Western Canada featuring hundreds of rare, historical, technological and ethnically diverse pieces, which he utilizes to forge his uniquely voiced orchestrations in almost any musical genre. He is also known for “prepared” and modified instruments along with other inventive ways of eliciting other-worldly and deeply evocative sounds.
In the last twenty years he has scored nearly seven hundred episodes of television. He is best known for his work on the hit Netflix series ‘Travelers’ from ‘Stargate’ creator Brad Wright, which continues to be one of the networks top performing sci-fi projects. He continued his science fiction foray with the Ron Howard/Brian Grazer produced Nickelodeon Series “The Astronauts” and the Amazon show “Reginald the Vampire” as well the Comedic Dramas YOU ME HER and the CW series Family Law. In addition, he has also written for popular documentary and reality shows airing on networks such as History, Discovery, ABC, CBS, FX, Food, Syfy, NatGeo and many others. Adam has also composer for numerous permanent civic installations and art exhibits all around the world, most recently ‘Avalanche’ by Artist Matthew McCormick for the V&A Museum in London, as well as ‘Bubbles’ for the Vancouver Aquarium, and the Interactive Civic installation ‘Field’ with Tangible Interactive also in Vancouver.
