| David Gross was principal timpanist of the Grand Rapids Symphony from 1982 to 2007. Besides his position with the Grand Rapids Symphony, Mr. Gross is Principal Timpanist and head of the Percussion Section of the Pine Mountain Music Festival. Prior to coming to Grand Rapids, he was Principal Timpanist with the Kansas City Philharmonic. He has also been principal timpanist of the Colorado Music Festival and has appeared as timpanist with such orchestras as the Detroit Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony and the Columbus Symphony. Mr. Gross has also performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Philadelphia Opera Company, and the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia. Mr. Gross has appeared as soloist with the Grand Rapids Symphony on several occasions. He has also appeared as soloist with the Kansas City Philharmonic.
David has held faculty positions at Grand Valley State University, the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and the University of Delaware. He has served as Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Michigan State University and continues to be a visiting artist there giving Master Classes.
